Coronation Street Spoiler: Debbie-Ronnie wedding in ruins: Money flies from safe, Todd abused on New Year’s Eve

In another corner of Weatherfield, Debbie Webster is preparing for the big day of her life: her wedding to Ronnie.

It should be a romantic, healing moment after years of turmoil, but being Coronation Street, weddings are synonymous with scandal.

Ever since Ronnie accidentally revealed that Debbie was planning to hand over control of her finances, the whole storyline has gone from rosy to alarming red. Carl – who is secretly taking money from Debbie’s account – overhears and starts panicking, trying to cover it up.

While Sally, Christina and Glenda wait for the bride to start the hen do, Debbie calls to say she’s in Leeds, leaving the group gasping.

The hen do still goes ahead, but the joy is quickly cut short when Abi receives a panicked call from Carl and rushes off. In a parallel timeline, Carl avoids Elaine’s messages, confessing to James that his mother’s death has caused him to slip up and make one mistake after another, including transferring Debbie’s money. James threatens to reveal everything to Abi if necessary, turning this financial secret into a time bomb right before the wedding.

On the big day, Debbie encounters a series of small “bad omens”: broken glasses, trouble with the preparation of the dress, Bernie has to stand up to “save” the bride. Guests gather, the dementia choir fumbles to put together the song, creating a touching and chaotic atmosphere typical of Corrie. But what Debbie doesn’t know is that outside, Abi has just discovered a bag of cash hidden in Carl’s car – so much money that it can only be a “slush fund” directly related to her. Before Abi can face Carl again, the bag of money disappears, leaving the feeling that everything is spiraling out of control.
