Debbie Webster and Ronnie are planning their wedding in true Debbie style: grand, special, and memorable.

But alongside the ribbons and flowers lies an undeniable truth: Debbie is battling dementia, so every joyful detail of the wedding has a layer of sadness underneath—a joy that still carries the ticking of the clock.

TV Guide emphasizes the upcoming wedding, promising it to be an extremely joyous occasion, until a spoiler drops a dagger: wedding events will be linked to a death in the Webster family.

Without mentioning who or why, simply mentioning the Webster death is enough to change the atmosphere. It made every moment of Debbie’s wedding preparations feel rushed, as if she were running before a door about to close. Ronnie was the type who wanted to “keep things in check” for Debbie’s happiness: he indulged her every idea, supported her when she was confused, and tried to turn the wedding day into an anchor so Debbie would feel that life still had certain things.

But Corrie liked to twist things: when people try to make everything as certain as possible, they take that away for the character to confront. At the same time, the Platt family storyline was equally heavy. Shona was pregnant, and the whole family finally had a reason to breathe, to laugh, to talk about the future.
