Emmerdale Spoiler: Robert is under intense investigation, John manipulates the police with a perfect play
Emmerdale continues to keep the audience on the edge of their seats this week, as the case surrounding John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) becomes increasingly complicated.
While Robert (Ryan Hawley) is desperately fighting the suspicions of the police, John proves himself to be a master at manipulation, turning every unfavorable evidence into a springboard to bury his opponent.
Immediately after being arrested, Robert is detained at the police station and continuously interrogated.
The constant questioning from the investigators makes him tired, but he still tries to maintain his testimony.
He affirms that John is not harmless, and even caused harm to Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb). “You are ignoring the real evil out there,” Robert screams in despair.
However, the police do not see any evidence to support his words. On the contrary, the traces at the scene and the testimony from the people all “accidentally” sided with John. The feeling of helplessness, being imprisoned within four cold walls made Robert even more depressed. The audience will not be able to help but feel sorry when witnessing a man struggling to keep the truth, while the whole world seemed to be against him.
While Robert was in custody, John appeared at the police station with a miserable face, a look of pain. He spoke calmly, his voice full of emotion, telling that he just wanted to live in peace but was constantly threatened by Robert. Those sweet lies made the police waver.
John even cleverly created “extra details” to reinforce the scenario: self-inflicted wounds, ambiguous hints that Robert had repeatedly approached him with a hostile attitude. Thanks to this masterful “acting” ability, John turned himself into the perfect victim, making the investigation agency gradually believe that Robert was the real danger.
