If Salem had one major event this week that was both light and heavy, it was Sarah and Chanel.

Sarah arranged to meet Chanel not for small talk, but to deliver a test result that was said to be life-changing.

Just hearing that alone told them it wasn’t a small matter.

Salem was already exhausted from the crypt, the missing people, and the extended holiday season, and now there was this “medical news” right in the middle of Christmas, a time when everyone wants to keep things peaceful.

Chanel received the news unprepared. On the surface, she tried to appear fine, pretending to have Johnny, her work, and her home to worry about. But inside, Chanel was carrying another secret that was suffocating her. And that’s why the meeting with Sarah felt like another stone was being placed on her chest. Sarah isn’t the type to threaten. Sarah will speak very directly, very realistically, giving information and making Chanel understand: this can’t be avoided. But the difficulty is that Chanel is in a position where the more she talks, the more she’ll reveal. If the test results relate to the future, to fertility, to illness, or to an issue that could affect the entire marriage, Chanel will be forced to choose: tell Johnny the truth immediately, or hide it until after the holidays. And anyone who’s watched Days knows that in Salem, hiding something until after the holidays rarely works. It usually turns into a bomb that explodes at the most crowded moment.
