Asha Alahan, once a strong woman who stood up against body-shaming and cyberbullying, is now at the center of a severe mental breakdown.

In a recent episode, Asha is found unconscious in her apartment, suspected of an overdose.

The hospital scene is heartbreaking: Dev – her father – is sobbing, while Nina trembles and prays by her bedside.

According to spoilers from Digital Spy, this breakdown began when Asha discovered her girlfriend, Isla, was having an affair with a colleague, while the pressure of her paramedic job caused her constant insomnia.

A painful flashback shows Asha looking at a picture of her deceased mother, whispering, “I’m so tired.”

The good news is she survived, but the story isn’t over. In the new teaser, Asha will struggle with PTSD and anxiety disorder, and will also be the subject of gossip from her colleagues after her “self-destructive” behavior is revealed.

Dev – who once protected his daughter from the world – is now forced to learn how to stand on her own two feet. Some fans believe this storyline is a “real touch” on the mental health issues of young people – something Coronation Street is doing very well.
