It seemed that after their sweet wedding, Sarah Sugden and Jacob Gallagher would enjoy a happy time together.

But life isn’t always a dream – especially in Emmerdale.

Their honeymoon quickly turned into a nightmare when a horrific accident occurred on the way.

The car they were in was caught in a chain-reaction collision caused by Hurricane Corriedale.

In the chaotic scene, with the deafening clang of metal and thick smoke billowing, Sarah was trapped in the car, while Jacob helplessly screamed for help. He pounded on the door, his hands covered in blood, but still tried to pull his wife out.

After minutes of panic, rescuers arrived. The scene of Sarah being pulled from the wreckage was heart-stopping. She was unconscious, her face covered in dirt, but still wearing her wedding ring – an image that brought tears to the eyes of Emmerdale fans. Jacob, despite his injuries, held Sarah’s hand tightly and said, “I won’t leave you for a second.”
