In Coronation Street, Abi Webster (Sally Carman) once again makes the audience both sympathetic and worried when she falls in love with Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard).

Despite the scandals surrounding her, Abi still sees Carl as a “breath of fresh air” after a long life of struggling with Kevin.

Carl is famous for his deceitful tricks – from fake MOTs to shady deals.

Instead of being afraid, Abi is attracted to that recklessness.

Compared to the gentle, honest Kevin, Carl is like a flash of lightning, giving Abi the feeling of life that she has long lacked. It is this contrast that makes her so blind that she ignores all warnings.

However, this passionate love is not innocent. Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) suddenly discovers their secret and immediately turns it into a tool for her own gain. From that moment, Abi’s life entered a new chapter – a chapter where every step she took was controlled by someone else.

Abi’s choices are leading her down a dangerous path. Not only did she trade her family, she also put herself in a spiral of conspiracies. But instead of stopping, Abi dived deeper, seeing Carl as an irresistible “fire”.

The question for the audience: Is Abi living true love, or is she just recreating a cycle of self-destruction?
