Just as the audience was still sobbing with Lisa’s joy, Coronation Street threw out a twist that left everyone breathless.

The woman who had just claimed to be Tia Wardley was actually just… an impostor.

And behind this elaborate drama was none other than DI Costello – the character who is suspected of hiding a shocking secret related to Becky Swain.

After the touching reunion scene at the Bistro, “Tia” left.

Instead of disappearing like a ghost from the past, she went straight to meet Costello. In the dark room, the truth was revealed: “You acted like Meryl Streep,” she laughed gleefully, boasting that her act had convinced Lisa and Carla. She even gloated: “I saw that blonde (Carla) almost cry.” Costello nodded, asking if they had any doubts, and the chilling answer was: “They don’t know the real Tia Wardley, so of course they believe her completely.”

When the words Haylie Jones as Fake Tia Wardley appeared at the end of the episode, viewers were shocked. It turned out that the whole touching story about Becky, about her kindness, about her journey to save a lost soul… was all just a drama created to hide the real secret. The real Tia had not appeared yet, and her connection to Becky, to Logan Radcliffe, to the whole conspiracy chain was still buried.

This action showed that Costello had gone too far to protect himself. He was willing to manipulate the truth, take advantage of Lisa and Carla’s trust, and turn Lisa’s pain of losing her wife into a tool to hide his guilt. Once again, the audience realized that in Weatherfield, the truth is never simple. What is exposed is often just a mask, while the truth is hidden deeper, more evil and dangerous.
