The episode opens with Bethany sitting silently in front of the window, clutching her phone.

A text message has just arrived: “You can’t hide it forever.

Tomorrow night, if you don’t want everything to be exposed, bring the money to the same place.”

No one knows where the “ same place ” is, but Bethany’s pale face is enough to tell: this isn’t the first threat.

In recent episodes, she has been constantly nervous, sneaking out of the bar where she works, and avoiding questions about Todd or Theo. Many viewers speculated that she might be being blackmailed by someone who knew about her relationship with Theo.
