The latest episode of Emmerdale doesn’t have any murder or accidents, but it’s the most painful breakup yet between two women who were once as close as sisters – Nicola King and Laurel Thomas.

The reason seems small: a misunderstanding at school.

But when hurtful words are spoken, neither of them can go back.

Nicola accuses Laurel of leaking personal information about students, causing criticism from the whole town.

Laurel denies it, but it’s too late – the online community has already thrown stones. The argument takes place right in the middle of the market: Nicola screams “You made me lose everything!”, while Laurel can only cry, trembling and explaining in vain.

The climax is when Nicola packs her things and leaves the house in the rainy night. Laurel runs after her, holding her hand in the middle of the dark street. “Please don’t go, I just want to help…” – “Are you helping me by destroying me?” Nicola says the last words, turns around and walks away. The image of Laurel collapsing to the ground, her sobs muffled by the thunder, became a tear-jerking scene.

Foreshadowing the next episode, Laurel will have a mental breakdown and must seek advice from Charles. But what few people expect is: Nicola is also keeping a secret – something that forces her to leave, not only because of anger but also because of fear of being discovered.
