But for Eva, “starting over” has never been easy.

As soon as the news spreads, Maria Connor appears, and the look she gives Eva says it all: between them, the past has never been quiet. Old hurts, misunderstandings and jealousy still burn. Eva knows it, but she chooses to face it – this time with power. Not only was she happy to “own” the Rovers, but she also wanted to settle all the complicated relationships in the Battersby household. Eva invited Leanne and Toyah – two sisters who were already tense – to the pub to talk face to face. When the two started arguing, Eva locked the door, forcing them to say everything on their minds. An act that was both bold and dangerous, making the atmosphere in the pub so thick it seemed like it was about to explode.

Things became even more chaotic when Ben’s mother – Mrs. Maggie Driscoll – appeared at the right time. She smiled and announced that she would move in with Eva and her husband, considering it “a close-knit family”. Eva was stunned. She had just received a gift, and now she was “given” her mother-in-law. Clearly, the Rovers Return Inn had not even warmed up before it became a battlefield.

And then at the Halloween party, Eva accidentally hugged Adam Barlow – her ex-lover – in a vampire costume, while Ben was standing right behind. A small moment of confusion but enough to change the whole atmosphere. Maggie glances, Ben is silent, and Eva smiles wryly. The past, no matter how hard she tries to forget, still finds its way back.

Eva thinks she’s in control, but she seems to be a pawn on the emotional chessboard. She has it all – a loving husband, a prestigious pub, a seemingly perfect family – but her own secrets are dragging her down. And with Maria refusing to back down, Leanne and Toyah still at odds, and Maggie beginning to “test her power” in her new home, Eva will soon realize that the price of controlling everything is losing the last of her peace.
