Salem seemed peaceful, but JJ Deveraux just turned everything around when he came to Jada Hunter with the promise of “good news” – which everyone thought was a positive turning point for her. But as usual, on DOOL, “good news” is never really good news.

The opening scene, JJ knocked on Jada’s office door with a slightly forced smile.

“I have something you’ll like,” he said, handing over a white envelope.

Jada picked it up, shaking slightly – her eyes shining with hope. But when she read it carefully, her expression changed.

Inside was a summons to return to the task force – where she had been investigated for leaking incorrect procedures. JJ looked at her, his voice low: “Second chances are hard to come by. I believe in you.”

Thinking this was a chance to start over, Jada realized she had just been dragged back into the same quagmire. She once said she would never return to the force – where there were secrets she couldn’t bear. However, JJ believed that only she could help him solve the case that was silently looming over Salem: the “DiMera Files.”

Jada walked out of the office and stood in the hallway, her eyes brimming with tears. Part of her wanted to leave, but the look in JJ’s eyes as he said, “I believe in you,” made her heart sink. “Once you’re in there, there’s no way out,” she whispered.

The next scene, JJ stood by the window watching her retreat, his arms clenched. He knew he had just pushed that girl back into the battlefield – where no one was safe.

DOOL viewers know: when JJ promises “good news,” there’s an undercurrent. And this time, Jada will have to fight not only the enemy on the surface, but also her own dark past.
