The whole Dales village stopped breathing when the name Bear Wolf – the toughest, strongest man in the Dingle family – mysteriously disappeared in the middle of the night without a word of goodbye.

It all started when Paddy Kirk, his son, returned home and realized that his father had left everything in a mess, the phone was off, the wallet was still on the table.

There was only a note with a few short words: “Don’t look for me.”

Paddy was stunned.

He had believed that his father had just gone to Ireland to rest, but as the days passed and no one heard from him, his worry turned into an obsession. The man who used to laugh heartily every time he entered the Woolpack was now just a name mentioned in whispers. In the village, rumors arose: Did Bear leave because he was in debt? Was he arrested by someone? Or did he discover something shocking and had to hide?

No one knows for sure, only Chas Dingle – the most sensitive woman in the house – noticed something strange: a few days before his disappearance, Bear had shown signs of anxiety, insomnia and often looked around as if he was being watched. He even said a cryptic sentence to Paddy: “If anything happens to me, don’t trust anyone in the village.”

That sentence has now become the center of all suspicion. Has Bear touched on some dark secret of the Dales, forcing him to leave to protect his son? Or is he the one who is hiding something and trying to escape it?
