Marlena Evans used to pride herself on seeing all the madness in Salem.

But this time, when Sami decides to marry Dante, she completely collapses. In the special episode “November 12,” Marlena collapses by the window, telling Roman: “She’s driving herself into a deep hole, and there’s nothing I can do.”

Roman simply replies: “You know Sami – she only listens to herself.”

Marlena begins to monitor her daughter’s behavior, meeting Dante privately to “warn” her.

But that meeting causes her to faint in the church – a scene shot in slow motion, with cold yellow light. When she wakes up, she dreams of Cat Greene standing at the end of the room, smiling vaguely.

Dante even visits Marlena in the hospital, saying meaningfully: “It’s not your daughter who needs protecting – it’s the one who holds the keys to Salem.” From that, Marlena understands: marriage is not a love story – it is a game.

The ending scene of the episode shows Marlena standing in front of the mirror, looking at herself and muttering: “I taught my son to be strong. But I never thought he would use that strength against the world.”

Sami’s wedding day is approaching, and this legendary mother seems to be praying – because love has now become a weapon.
