“I kept him alive,” Cat said tearfully when facing Julie. “No one knew that.”

This truth shocked viewers because it showed that the relationship between Cat and EJ was not just acquaintance – but a kind of spiritual attachment, haunting each other in a way that Chad was completely outside of.

The most jaw-dropping scene: Cat sits in the DiMera library, opens the exact page she read to EJ, and repeats the line: “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” When EJ walks in, they both stand in silence for a few seconds – as if remembering a past that neither of them wants to mention.
