Eli Grant – one of Salem’s toughest detectives – senses something is wrong when EJ keeps dodging questions about his time in Italy.

And Cat Greene – the only person who witnessed EJ’s mysterious recovery – is immediately called in.

According to the spoiler, Eli asks EJ directly:

“Was there anyone in Italy with you?”

EJ replies very carefully: “No one important.”

That’s when Eli begins to suspect: EJ is hiding something more than just a love affair.

When Cat is called in, she appears nervous. She claims that EJ “wasn’t completely unconscious” when they spoke, and they shared a lot of private things. But Eli doesn’t believe her. He asks: “Are you sure EJ didn’t say anything about DiMera?”
Cat is silent.
This silence makes things worse.

Meanwhile, Chad accidentally overhears the end of the interrogation and realizes: Cat lied to him about her time in Italy. This makes Chad “break” a second time.

Maggie Horton then reveals the news about Xander to Sarah, but at the same time Maggie also hears about the investigation of EJ from Jack – causing the story to spread throughout the town.

Eli prepares to launch an official investigation. If he finds evidence that EJ is hiding – EJ could lose all his power, reputation and love.

EJ understands this so he decides: to keep absolutely silent and prevent Cat from saying more. But the more pressure is put on Cat, the more panicked she becomes, bringing things closer to the breaking point.
