If anyone thinks Todd Grimshaw has found true love with Theo, then… no. This week’s episode reveals the whole truth: Todd is stuck in a toxic relationship to the point where he bursts into tears in the middle of the house, completely broken.

And from there, the audience realizes: Theo is not a lover, but someone who is suffocating Todd little by little.

The opening scene is gentle and sweet like any other couple.

But as time goes on, Theo’s words become more and more aggressive, controlling, and pushes Todd into a corner.

He cannot be wrong. He cannot react. He cannot speak up when he sees injustice. If he does even a little wrong, Theo will turn around and blame him. And the scariest thing is that Todd… thinks he deserves it.

The most “expensive” scene of the episode is when Todd returns to his room, closes the door, and bursts into tears uncontrollably. It wasn’t the cry of a lover sad because of a fight. It was the cry of someone who was mentally drained, verbally threatened, emotionally manipulated, made to believe that he was small and useless. Just a light touch was enough to make Todd collapse.

The audience watched with a choked voice. Todd – who was once smart and active – now cowered, looking at his phone as if afraid of a text message from Theo. Flashbacks appeared: when Theo forced Todd to drink alcohol, when Theo held his hand too tightly, when Theo “joked” in a half-teasing, half-threatening way. All the signs of a truly toxic person.
