Coronation Street Spoiler: Abi catches Carl “slipping the tongue” – A sentence that collapses the whole love affair in Coronation Street
In the cold of the end of the year in Weatherfield, the seemingly peaceful love story of Abi and Carl begins to show small cracks, then quickly explodes because of just one… slip of the tongue.
Starting from a person who has gone through addiction, lost a child, lost faith in herself, Abi is no longer a girl who is easily lulled to sleep by a few sweet promises.
She is as sensitive to the smell of lies as people are to the smell of burning gasoline, and this time, the person in her sights is the man she is trying to trust: Carl.
At first, the signs were very small. Carl kept changing his schedule, there were phone calls that were quickly hung up when Abi just entered the room.

She asked him to talk about the future, about stabilizing everything after so many events, but Carl either changed the subject or laughed it off. Abi tries to reassure herself, reminding herself that she can’t always be suspicious, but her survival instinct tells her otherwise: “Something’s wrong, you can feel it.”

The drama reaches its climax in a seemingly ordinary scene – maybe in the garage, maybe in the Rovers – when they’re talking about an old incident that Abi thinks only a few people know the whole story about. While trying to appear understanding and sympathetic, Carl blurts out a chillingly accurate detail, as if he were there that day. The question is: if he wasn’t involved, how did he know so much?
