If Weatherfield was once peaceful, then the moment Abi Webster lost control officially destroyed it all.

The story begins from a seemingly normal morning: Abi is still trying to keep calm after the events surrounding Jack and feels like she has been pushed out of the position of a biological relative.

Pressure, self-pity, plus the fact that Kevin doesn’t seem to understand what she’s been through has caused Abi to fall into a state where just a small spark is enough to explode.

That spark is Tracy McDonald. Oh my god, when Tracy opens her mouth, she knows something is wrong.

With just one sentence that is “piercing the heart”, Tracy said: “Kevin is the real father of Alfie, not someone else.” That cold water splash made Abi freeze for a few seconds – but then her anger seemed to be torn apart, causing her to jump up, rush forward, and punch Tracy right in front of everyone.

The punch was not only shocking, but also meant everything: repression, pain at feeling like a failing mother, anger at being constantly scrutinized. Kevin – the only person Abi really wanted to understand – was standing there, eyes wide as he watched the scene completely unforeseen. The punch shook the Rovers, leaving the bar’s guests “frozen”, and Tracy was furious at being humiliated in public.

After the punch, the atmosphere between Abi and Kevin became even more tense. No one said it, but it was clear Kevin was starting to question: was Abi losing control again? And Abi was torn: part felt right to protect herself, the other was afraid of losing Kevin – the person she loved and trusted so much that she thought nothing could shake her.
