While viewers were still worried about Shona and David, Corrie added another dark layer: the deadly threat between Becky Swain and Inspector Costello.

But she did not expect that Costello, her former ally, had now become the head of the network that wanted to eliminate her.

A rainy night scene, Becky walked through a dark alley, Costello’s footsteps echoed behind.

He whispered: “There’s a flight to Spain at 7am tomorrow morning. Go, or I’ll send you off in another way.”

The lights flickered, Becky replied with a cold smile: “I’m not running. Not this time.” Corrie is never short of cat-and-mouse drama – and this time, viewers sensed real danger lurking.

The episode ended with a pan of the camera on Becky’s face, rain and tears streaming down her face, as she quietly called out: “Carla, it’s time.” Fans speculated this was the start of a deadly confrontation between two of Corrie’s strongest women today.
