Coronation Street Spoiler: Becky Swain returns – the dead return, bringing with them a hidden storm in the family

The name Becky Swain, which seemed to have ended in the past, now returns to turn everything upside down.

When she walked into the middle of Betsy’s 18th birthday party, the audience was breathless.

DS Lisa Swain – who had shed tears because she believed her wife was dead – was stunned when she saw Becky standing there, in the flesh.

Becky said she “never really left”, that she was forced to fake her death to cover up a case by DI Costello – Lisa’s boss.

She said that Costello used the witness fund to buy her silence, and Becky was the only one who knew this secret. The scene where Becky threw the file on the table, coldly saying: “She’s not dead, she’s been honorably murdered” made both the audience and Lisa shiver.

From then on, Lisa fell into crisis. She doesn’t know whether to trust Becky, her cheating ex, or Costello, her respected superior. Betsy is furious, yelling at her mother: “You both lied to me for 18 years!” Then she storms off.
