Coronation Street Spoiler: Carla announces she’s “breaking up” with Lisa – a twist that shakes Weatherfield

Hey, right from the start of this week’s Coronation Street, there was a huge twist when the eldest sister, Carla Connor, decided to end her relationship with her current lover, Lisa Swain – and just one move was enough to shake the whole old town of Weatherfield.

The story begins when Carla, who is known for being strong, confident and always taking the initiative, suddenly realizes that she is on the “passive” side in this love affair.

Lisa – who is a police officer and has a mature personality – seems to be gradually withdrawing, not really responding to the level of emotion that Carla sets.

When Carla saw the ambiguous messages between Lisa and someone else, and especially the signs that made Carla suspect that Lisa was letting Becky (Lisa’s ex) “lead her by the nose”, she decided to “take action” – not with gentle words, but with a declaration: “I’ll stop here”.

The scene that night was dimly lit, Carla sat alone at The Rovers, her glass half empty, half full, her eyes both sad and determined. Lisa walked over, her heart filled with love and fear – love for Carla because she was forced into a choice, fear because she could not respond. Carla spoke first: “Lisa, you are much better off not falling into the same game that I fell into. I don’t want to be a backup. I don’t want to be the one being taken advantage of.” Lisa was silent.

Not just stopping at words, Carla had silently prepared to leave. She spent more time with work – Underworld, big decisions in the company – as if to send the message that “I am fine”. And even though her heart was broken, Carla’s eyes still carried a proud look: “I don’t need others to make me feel more valuable, I make myself valuable.”
