While the Coronation Street audience has not yet recovered from the shock of Becky’s return from the dead, the latest episode continues to put the characters in a tense situation.

This time, the focus is no longer on the one-on-one argument between Lisa and Becky, but on the tragedy of Carla Connor and the conflict in Roy Cropper’s conscience – two characters who are the pillars of the Weatherfield neighborhood.

Carla – who thought she had found a stable love with Lisa – suddenly fell into a deep hole of doubt.

She is not only haunted by Becky’s return, but also by the feeling that Lisa has hidden the truth from her.

In a dramatic scene, Carla confesses: “What scares me most is not whether Becky lives or dies, but whether Lisa is still sincere with me or not.” This pain, the audience can clearly feel through Carla’s tearful eyes, completely different from her usual strong appearance.

Meanwhile, Roy – who is just an outsider – is caught in the middle of the secret vortex. He witnessed Becky’s survival with his own eyes, and heard Carla’s plea to keep it a secret. But Roy is a man of integrity and cannot stand lies. He frankly said: “If I stay silent, everyone in Weatherfield is in danger. But if I speak out, I could destroy Lisa and Carla’s happiness.” This is one of the rare situations where the audience sees Roy fall into such intense internal conflict.

The climax of the episode comes when Carla and Roy have a private conversation in the cafe. Carla begs: “Roy, please don’t make me lose everything. I have accepted Becky back, but I can’t lose Lisa.” Roy looks at Carla, his eyes quiet but determined, leaving the question unanswered: can he sacrifice his principles to protect a promise?

Outside of the love story, the audience also cannot ignore the shady details related to DI Costello. In a short scene, Costello calls a stranger, his voice full of tension: “She’s starting to suspect, we have to act quickly.” This line seems to suggest that what Lisa and Carla are facing is just the beginning. A larger conspiracy, possibly involving the entire criminal network, is waiting to explode.
