This week’s Coronation Street opens with a thrilling cliffhanger: the victim of a mysterious attack – who viewers have been waiting for for many episodes – finally wakes up and begins to remember the moment of death.

The atmosphere in the hospital is thick with tension as the character tries to piece together the pieces of her memory: a tall man in a dark coat, heavy breathing and heavy footsteps.

That alone is enough to send Corrie into a frenzy.

But what’s even more shocking is: the killer isn’t stopping there.

While the police are still searching for clues, a female character – who was completely out of the question – suddenly becomes the new target. The scene shows her entering the house at dusk, completely unaware that behind her is a figure standing motionless on the steps. His hand is holding something that looks like a rusty metal bar, the street light is enough for the audience to see… he has been watching her since the beginning of the episode. A slight zoom into the killer’s cold eyes is enough to stir up the internet.

ITV newsroom revealed that this murder was not a “spontaneous accident”, but a carefully calculated chain of events, and the new victim may be involved in a secret from the killer’s past. Some fans even connected the details between the victim, the attacker, and an old event that happened many years ago that has never been fully explained. Maybe Corrie is digging up a long-standing mystery.

What has the whole neighborhood more chaotic is the attitude of the police in the show: they repeatedly failed to narrow down the suspect, missed important clues, causing the people to completely lose faith. Short conversations between neighbors also revealed fear: “What if he’s still around?”, “What if he’s watching us?”
