Coronation Street Spoiler: David Loses Control – When a Man Struggling Between Love and Fear of Losing His Child
David Platt is no longer the calm man the audience is familiar with. After hearing the bad news, he falls into a state of inner turmoil.
That night, David quietly leaves home, running alone in the rain – a familiar image of a desperate man.
He wants to appear strong in front of Shona, but in his head only echoes the sound of the baby’s heartbeat through the ultrasound machine.
Each echo is a knife cut.

He goes to the pub, clashes with Kit. The conversation quickly turns heated. Kit sarcastically says “David always fails when it comes to protecting the people he loves.” That sentence is the last straw – David rushes in to fight, separated in the chaos. The scene is dark, neon lights reflect on his tear-stained face.

Returning home, David finds Shona sleeping, hugging the sweater he bought for the baby. He sat down, took her hand, and whispered, “I won’t let this take you away from me.” But the look in his eyes said otherwise – fear, pain, helplessness.
The episode ended with a long shot of David sitting in the dark – the man trying to save the world but falling apart himself.
