While the fandom is still scrutinizing the CorrieDale trailer, this week’s episode of Corrie is anything but “tame.”

Spoilers for Friday, December 19th, are pushing the drama to the point where you’ll want to cry: Ben nearly exposes Will’s secret, while Will and Megan continue their sneaky antics as if they’re confident no one will find out.

And this is the kind of situation soap loves: not completely exposed, but enough to make everyone suspicious, scrutinize, and smell the lies.

Imagine that scene: just one more step from Ben, one more door opened, or one more sentence heard, and Will would be finished.

But Corrie usually doesn’t let it be “finished” immediately; they make it “almost” to make it even more dramatic. Because after a near-catch, the person hiding the secret will live in a state of tension, overreact, lie more, and create loopholes. Meanwhile, the suspicious person will start paying attention to every detail: eye contact, timing, messages, the way someone is silent. From a near-disaster, it will become a series of “little things” and then boom.

In this spoiler, the placement of Megan and Will also creates the feeling that they are playing a high-stakes game. The more they hide, the easier it is to go off track. And if Ben has truly uncovered the truth, he won’t let go easily. People like Ben in soap operas don’t usually need immediate proof; they need a “feeling of certainty,” and then they’ll dig it out. So even if episode 19/12 hasn’t exploded yet, it’s still a warning sign that Will is about to be hunted.
