Coronation Street Spoiler: George Shuttleworth warns – Who really controls the Rovers?

George Shuttleworth, as the former pub owner and stage acquaintance of the Rovers, is feeling uneasy.

When Maggie walks in, he sees the look in her eyes that says:

“You’ve got enough to worry about – now let me handle the other side.”

George shakes his head and says: “Don’t be fooled.”

George is used to power – but now he doesn’t know what position he holds. Maggie walks in, speaking calmly: “I want things to go well for the family – and the pub is part of it.” But in her eyes is something bigger: power, planning, expansion. George watches Maggie walk past him, thinking: “Am I the owner or am I just the assistant behind the scenes?”
In a dark scene, George and Todd Grimshaw stand outside the pub – they see Maggie meeting a strange man in a private room. When the lights come on, Maggie turns around, looks at them: “Do you prioritize your personal life or your business?” The man is confused. George swallowed dryly: “She didn’t come to drink, she came to buy power.”

George began to investigate quietly: questionnaires with staff suddenly changed, bank records locked, Maggie appeared with the business card “M.D. Consulting”. He began to ask questions: who did Rovers belong to, after all? Maggie? Or was it still George’s?
This article is the perspective of an outsider – the person who held the central position before being displaced. George warned – and the audience should be wary too: not to get caught up in the new Rovers’ aura and forget the underlying change. Who is really in control? Maggie! And George is just an observer.
