But Mark was different now. He decided to meet Jeremy Horton to ask for advice. Jeremy, who once believed in Mark, simply said: “If you want to start over, don’t let DiMera redefine you.” However, when Mark tried to retreat, EJ used the trick: “I have evidence that you are not really innocent.” This sentence was like a chain that locked Mark back into the darkness.

Meanwhile, Mark’s appearance began to affect other characters. Stephanie Johnson and Alex Kiriakis, who were busy hiding their identity as “Anastasia Sands”, were accidentally caught by Mark while discussing the plan to release their true identities. He did not report them, but used that information to bargain with EJ: “I will keep quiet – if you let me go free.” EJ smiled: “Do you think you have a choice?”

The climax scene took place in Salem Park – where Mark was attacked by a stranger. He struggled, fought back, then took out his phone to call EJ: “We need to talk.” EJ’s voice rang out cold as steel: “I know.” The phone went off. Rain fell. Mark raised his head, his eyes filled with resentment. He realized that to survive in Salem, he had to play the game he had sworn he would never return to.
