On another front, Rafe Hernandez and Cat are deep in an investigation that they themselves don’t realize is dangerous.

It all starts when Cat finds a copy of an unusual financial transaction related to DiMera Enterprises.

But when she goes back to check a second time — the document has completely disappeared from the system.

Not a technical error, but a deliberate deletion.

Cat looks at the screen, her hands shaking: “Rafe… someone is erasing the evidence right in front of us.”
Rafe immediately tenses: “Are you saying someone is watching our every move?”
Cat nods. The atmosphere is tense as a string.

The bigger problem: Rafe and Cat are gradually being torn apart by outside pressures. Cat worries about Kayla’s safety, about Brady and Sarah, and about Chad — who she’s falling in love with. Rafe is torn between his professional responsibilities and protecting the people he cares about.

When they hit a wall — the wall being EJ and the lab — the audience knows this isn’t going to happen overnight. It might be more than just EJ. Rolf? Mark? Or a new character entirely?

The scary thing is that Rafe and Cat don’t know: they’re about to be targeted. And one small mistake could make them pawns in a power struggle.
