If Salem has a character who transforms the most this week, it is definitely Sarah Horton.

According to new spoilers, Sarah has a “breakthrough” – a strong breakthrough that makes both the Horton family and DAYS fans sigh with relief but also can’t hide their curiosity: What is Sarah going to do next?

At the beginning of the episode, Sarah sits alone in the hospital room, her hand on Marlena’s file.

Marlena – though weak – still holds Sarah’s hand, saying a sentence that is light but enough to make everyone choke: “You need to live your own life.”

That is the moment that marks the awakening of Sarah – the woman who has endured too long because of Xander, because of responsibility, because of family.

Immediately after, Sarah walks straight to Salem Square, where Xander is holding Victoria. The scene where the two meet is filled with the smell of the past that has not yet faded: their eyes evade, memories come flooding back, and the pain is still there. But instead of getting caught up in it, Sarah spoke directly, her voice strangely calm:

“Where do you want us to go? I don’t accept standing still anymore.”

Xander was stunned. He vaguely talked about the future, but didn’t give a clear answer – which was what made Sarah determined to change. Sarah understood that she had lived too long in the “waiting” loop of Xander growing up – and now it was time for her to take control of her own life.

After that confrontation, Sarah went to see Brady. He was comforting little Rachel – who had just gone through complicated feelings related to Kristen. Brady said something that made Sarah stop: “Sometimes people don’t need you to save them. You just need to save yourself.” The advice seemed to hit Sarah right in the heart.

But the drama wasn’t over. Elsewhere, Eric and Belle were having a heated argument with EJ DiMera – regarding information EJ was hiding. As Sarah happened to walk past EJ’s office, she heard Belle’s voice:
“You want to use your power to crush us? We will not back down.”
EJ chuckled: “I don’t need to crush anyone. The truth will protect me.”
