Of all the places that could become a drama hotspot, Bayview is always a prime candidate.

This time, the notorious psychiatric facility witnesses a new alliance being formed: Sophia and Rachel.

Rachel was sent there by Brady, hoping his daughter could control her anger, impulsiveness, and deep-seated family trauma.

Sophia, on the other hand, is a half-awake, half-crazy patient; clueless in front of doctors, but sharp and extremely calculating behind their backs.

From their very first time together, Bayview lost its rare peace. Rachel brought in a whole host of frustrations of a child who always felt adults were deciding her life for her. Sophia saw her opportunity. She quickly became friendly, listened to Rachel, and then revealed that she was not resigned to being locked up. In a few brief conversations, the two began making “little plans” to test how tight the system was.

The scene where Sophia sneaks out of the room to buy a burger, while Rachel deceives the medical staff into thinking “she’s still asleep,” was the first test. It showed that the two could coordinate, could lie, and could manipulate those around them smoothly. For the audience, it was a wake-up call: if they could do that just because they craved a burger, then sneaking out to visit their “beloved family” wasn’t a far-fetched prospect.
