No one expected that the young couple who are attached to the Dales would choose to “disappear in the night”, leaving behind their relatives, friends and even secrets that have not been told.

A source from the studio revealed: April and Dylan have planned to leave for a long time.

Their relationship – both innocent and full of cracks – is becoming more and more suffocating amid the adult tragedies around them.

April can’t stand seeing her family fall apart, while Dylan is tormented by the things he was involved in in the past. And then, when the door of opportunity opens, they hold hands… and leave.

The scene that made fans “cry their eyes out”: April sat in the van, looked out the window, and whispered, “We have no place here anymore.” Dylan squeezed her hand, started the car, the headlights shone on the “Welcome to Emmerdale” sign – before they drove away and the words faded into darkness. No mournful background music, just the sound of wind and engine – truly “gone forever”.
