Among the many characters dragged into tragedy, Bear Wolf is the one that most deeply saddens viewers.

He was once a symbol of strength and loyalty, a kind friend to Paddy Kirk, but then became a direct victim in a series of crimes manipulated by Celia Daniels.

Bear was kidnapped by Celia and imprisoned in an old cage on the edge of the forest – a place no one would expect.

She used him as a tool, forcing him to work and depriving him of his right to speak.

The torture was not only physical but also mental – for every day, Celia would whisper in his ear, “No one will find you, because here, I am God.”

The scene of Bear sitting in the darkness, looking out at the dim light between two rotting wooden planks, is one of the most haunting images of the season. When Ray discovers his foster father being tortured, he collapses. But instead of saving him in time, it was too late: Bear died in silence, his hand clutching an old photograph of him and Paddy.

The audience wept, and Digital Spy described it as: “Bear’s death is a stab to the heart – a character who lived fully, died in the shadows, and became a symbol of the price to pay in Dales.” Later, when Ray carried his body in his arms, he broke down in tears – not just because of the loss, but because he understood: all his mistakes began with trusting Celia Daniels.
