Just as Emmerdale was still reeling from the Celia-Ray drama, ITV released the bombshell crossover Corriedale – a fusion of Coronation Street and Emmerdale, promising the most catastrophic accident in the history of the two British soap universes.

The trailer opens with a scene of trucks crashing into each other on the road connecting Weatherfield and Hotten.

Among the victims are big names: Moira, Cain, Charity, Jacob, and most shockingly, Ray Walters – who had just attempted to escape from Celia and Bear.

Emmerdale fans immediately erupted, speculating that the crash was the fateful connecting point between the storylines. While Celia was preparing to flee the village, Ray was caught in the accident while carrying Bear. Leaked footage shows Bear being pulled from the car, unconscious, while Ray, covered in blood, desperately calls Laurel. The call goes unanswered, and then the car explodes. In the hospital, Charity is seen comforting Shona – a character from Coronation Street – while Moira and Cain stand outside Ray’s emergency room.
