If there’s one person in Emmerdale who knows no fear, it’s Moira Dingle.

She’s caused all sorts of tragedies, been in the middle of family and legal battles, and paid the price for her mistakes.

So when Moira begins to suspect Celia, viewers know it’s not just a few light-hearted arguments.

And rightly so, the storyline between the two women escalates into a fiery confrontation.

After stringing together strange signs around Celia’s farm – missing people, ambiguous statements, a tense atmosphere whenever anyone mentions the police – Moira realizes she’s rented land to the wrong person. The fear of “unintentionally aiding and abetting crime” makes it impossible for her to turn a blind eye. Despite advice to stay away, Moira decides to confront Celia head-on, drawing her into a conversation that has no way back.

The encounter took place in a very Emmerdale atmosphere: in the middle of a barn, the smell of mud, the cold wind blowing across the fields, but the atmosphere was thick with menace. Moira threw every accusation at her, from Anya and Bear to Celia’s involvement with April. Celia didn’t deny it, or if she did, it was only a token denial. She quickly turned the tables: mentioning Moira’s family, mentioning the children, mentioning how “accidents” could happen to anyone at any time.
