Emmerdale Spoiler: Mackenzie Boyd is chained in a dungeon – will he survive?

While the whole of Emmerdale is in turmoil over the fall of John Sugden and Aaron Dingle, another character is still silently suffering a tragic fate: Mackenzie Boyd.

Observant viewers will remember that John had previously kidnapped and imprisoned Mack in a secret dungeon in the woods.

And now, when all attention is on the hospital, Mack is still forgotten, chained in the cold underground.

The scene of Mack lying curled up, his hands chained to a rusty iron frame, has given the audience goosebumps.

The only light is a few weak rays of light coming through the cracks of the wooden lid. Mack has called for help many times, but his screams echo into the hopeless void, no one hears. As time passes, his body gradually becomes exhausted, thirsty and tired to the point that his eyes gradually fall asleep.

Despite being imprisoned, Mack does not completely give up. He constantly tries to find a way to escape the chains, using small stones and broken pieces of wood to wear down the metal. At times, he collapses from exhaustion, but his resilient eyes still shine with hope: if he can hold on a little longer, maybe someone will discover him.

The screenwriter cleverly instills in the audience a feeling of “racing against time”. Every minute that passes, Mack is closer to death. But at the same time, he can also become the most important factor: if he escapes, Mack will be the living witness to expose John Sugden, exonerate Robert and open a new turning point.

Immediately after the scene of Mack being chained up was shown, social media was flooded with comments. Many fans wrote: “Don’t let Mack die in the dark”, “He has to get out, for Robert, for Aaron, for the truth!”. Some even speculated that Mack himself would be the key factor in saving Aaron – if he survived, Mack’s testimony could change the whole situation.
